“I have always looked upon decay as being just as wonderful and rich an expression of life as growth.” -Henry Miller

My recent work focuses on organic structures, bugs, leaves and flowers against and among rusting metal. Substances, both man-made and organic are subject to deterioration, decay and eventual death. The patterns and colors of life in all its forms, both fresh and in the process of decaying, is beauty and substance. Living with this knowledge each day creates a tension. Decay and death are part of life. Yet we create colors and patterns to our life in spite of this fact.

My intent as an artist is to marry organic life with corrosion in such a way that accentuates the beauty of each, blurring the lines between beauty and decay, life and death and the organic and the man-made.
